Every asset. Every event. Handled correctly, every time.
Assets are acquired, added to, revalued and disposed of, often months later. Dwindle is built for that reality, not an idealised straight line, and it works the same at one asset or ten thousand.
Australian and New Zealand rules, maintained for you.
Capital Allowances
Diminishing value and prime cost, with the 200% and 150% effective-life formulas built in and applied per asset from the date it was first used or installed ready for use.
Prescribed Depreciation Rates
The full IRD prescribed rate schedule built in, searchable by industry or by asset type, on both diminishing value and straight line, narrowed to the rates that apply for the acquisition date.
Low-Value, SBE & Software Pools
The low-value pool, the small business entity pool and software development pools, handled natively across income years. Each pool has its own entry conditions, and Dwindle checks every asset against them and shows you which pools it is eligible for.
Pool Method
Low-value assets grouped and depreciated as one asset rather than a schedule line each. Run as many pools as suit the register and combine them later, with the pool rate and calculation rules applied for you.
Capital Works
Building and structural improvement deductions at 2.5% or 4.0% depending on construction date and use, calculated on construction cost and tracked alongside plant and equipment rather than mixed in with them.
Buildings & Structures
Building rates have changed direction repeatedly, including periods at zero and a reinstatement for non-residential buildings. Dwindle resolves the rate that applies from the acquisition date and income year, keeps short-life and portable buildings depreciating, and runs fit-out held separately from building cost on its own rates.
Instant Asset Write-off
An immediate deduction for eligible assets under the threshold, with the full history of threshold changes and small business entity eligibility applied by income year, including temporary full expensing from 6 October 2020 to 30 June 2023.
Low-Value Write-off
Assets under the threshold deducted in full in the year of purchase. The threshold has moved several times, including a temporary lift, and Dwindle applies the one in force on the purchase date rather than today’s.
Investment Boost
A 20% upfront deduction on eligible new assets, then normal depreciation on the remaining 80%. Eligibility runs off the date the asset was first used, not the date it was bought.
The failure modes you already know, engineered out.
No schedule. No history. No handover.
“It took four hours to reconstruct a depreciation schedule, just so we could maintain it.”
Import. Validate. Done.
Structured imports let you reperform depreciation from original acquisition data, with no reconstruction and no inherited errors.
The fragile spreadsheet.
“We found an error after claiming incorrect depreciation for three years.”
A platform you can trust.
Cloud-based, version-controlled, with a full calculation audit trail. Every number is traceable, with no silent formula drift.
Threshold roulette, every year.
“Every asset register is a potential research project.”
Rules built in.
A full history of threshold changes and eligibility logic. You review the outcome instead of researching the rule.
One asset, kept in many places.
“The bank covenant, the tax return and the board each want a different number, so I maintain three spreadsheets.”
Single source of truth.
Assets are entered once and drive every basis. Reconciling variances are calculated, not hunted across files.
Disposals are discovered.
“Where’s the excavator? Oh, we sold that two years ago. Do we need to fix anything?”
Disposals are managed.
Record the event, date and proceeds. Dwindle calculates the balancing adjustment, termination value or income consequence in real time. No ghost assets, no catch-up amendments, with scrapping, trade-ins and partial disposals all handled natively.
Everything Dwindle does, by area.
